Hi I have 1 laptop /win xp & 1 PC /win xp.
I can open my excel workbooks & edit on both machines but they will only update on the other machine when I close both programs. Can they not update each other in real time?If so please can so one tell me how. Both machines are in the same building & linked via LAN cable. Many thanks Chris |

real time sharing in excel
Thanks for that David C. I did try that last night , but no joy, however the tip about playing with the features worked a treat.
Thank you "DavidC" wrote: Closest thing to what you want is the sharing option under tools. This allows two or more users to edit and change the workbook. The period between updating the workbook can be set from a minimum of 5 minutes and up or when one of the users closes down the workbook. Play with that feature and see if it does what you want. BEst of luck DavidC -----Original Message----- Hi I have 1 laptop /win xp & 1 PC /win xp.
