Default Saving text files in excel 95 foremat

I'm using Excel 2000. In a macro I load a txt file of
50,000 lines of information, and save it as an excel 95
foremat. When I re-opne the file it has been reduced to
about 17,000 lines. Any ideas why and how to get round
it?

Excel 95 doesn't support 65536 rows, only 16384.
