control toolbox contrls disabled in design mode
is the worksheet protected?

no - it was not protected -- i opened a new sheet and discovered it could add controls...then came back to the original and realized 2 tabs (worksheets) where selected simulatously...when I selected the first tab/sheet i regained access to the toolbox...
