I'm a runner to keep in shape, and I'm trying to keep record of my
splits for improvement when I run. I'm looking for a way to show the difference of each lap split, and then show the total run time of any given workout. For instance if I have a split of: 02:16.76 (min:sec.tenths) & 04:26.28, & 6:36.20, I want to know the difference of 1 & 2, 2 & 3, etc. & I want to know the sum of the series together. This would need to work for a series of 8-12 splits for any given group. Does anyone have any ideas on how to set this up? ![]() --- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |

Firesurfer262,
Here's how: Format column A and B as mm:ss.00 In A1 enter the word: Times Enter your times in Column A (ie. A2, A3, A4....) In B3 enter this formula: =ABS(A3-A2) Copy B3 down for as many rows are you want. Highlight Column A From the Data menu, select SubTotals If you want to know the positive or negative differences between times, then replace =ABS(A3-A2) with =A3-A2 Rob "firesurfer262 " wrote in message ... I'm afraid that you asking too much from Excel AFIK it can't deal with fractions of second. Here's some specimin data. 1st Group mm:ss Cumul difference 02:30 02:30 0 02:25 04:55 00:05 02:20 07:15 00:05 02:35 09:50 00:15 Time entered as 0:2:30 for 2min 30 secs Cumulative is just =a4+B3 and copied down. Formula for the Difference 2nd line is =IF(A4=A3,A4-A3,(A3-A4)) and copied down. Don't know if this will do - I don't know if macros will help much unless you want a customised function. Let me know if you do and I'll give it a whirl. Regards Peter -----Original Message----- I'm a runner to keep in shape, and I'm trying to keep record of my splits for improvement when I run.
