Cecilia,

If you use controls toolbox buttons, you don't assign a macro to it, you use
its click event.

To do this, in design mode (the blue triangle in the toolbar) double-click
the button and this takes you to the code input screen.

Sounds like you are using the controls toolbox rather than the forms
toolbox.

The controls version will allow you to create a sub linked to the control.

If you have a pre-existing macro you want to link, use the forms toolbox,
then right click on the button and assign a macro.
