Default Development Tools Available for Excel

I am reviewing development tools and technologies for a large Excel
(probably Excel 2003) development project. I have a significant amount of
code that I will leverage that is primarily made up of EXCEL XLM (Excel 4
macros), Excel 97 SDK, Excel VBA, and some C style DLL add-ins. I am
reviewing Visual Studio.NET as a platform to use for future Excel
development. Can anyone point me to some reading material / recommendations
that will help me evaluate the technologies du-jour for Excel development
(pro's / con's). Are there other development tools I should consider?
