Default having problems with X-axis scales

Hi
I'm drawing a line graph in which the X axis is "Days after surgery"
and Y axis is the "concentration". However, I'm having problems with
Excel automatically converting my 'days' into a date format when i
choose the time scale option for the primary axis. Furthermore, I'm not
allowed to have the number zero (0) for my X axis because the Y axis is
in Logarithmic mode. This means that I have to start my X axis on Day
"1", so that when i try to set the major unit for 5 day intervals (eg
0, 5, 10, 15, 20) it looks like 1, 6, 11, 16, 21. If there is a way
around this please let me know, it will be greatly appreciated.
