Default error accessing system registry

When I try to open an excel document, I get the following error message:
Error accessing the system registry.

Please advise fix.

Thanks but I don't have Crystal Reports. Nothing in that article rings
familiar. My problem is with Microsoft Excel for Mac. Perhaps that makes a
difference.
