Default Date Cell/ Format woes!

Hi, first post here, so be gentle!
I have a row of months, that have been imported from another
spreadsheet. The problem i have is that they all have the following
format on first glance. i.e. "Feb-07". However, when I click on the
cell itself on one of the colums, it gives a format in the formula bar
of "01/02/06". What I need to do is give all the cells the format of,
say Custom "mmm-yy". However, try as i might when i try and apply the
formatting, paste special etc etc it does not convert into reading say
"Feb-07" in the formula bar.

Any thoughts?
Many thanks
Dan

Hi Dan,

You cannot changin formatting in formula bar. In formula bar you will always
dates in the format "01/02/06".
The only thing you can do to have "Feb-07" in formula bar is changing dates
to text:
just digit in a cell 'Feb-07 (be aware af the single quote before of the F:
you have to digit it...)
But in this way you have no more dates, but text.

(I'm not sure of names of menus, options and commands, because
translating from the Italian version of Excel...)

Hope I helped you.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
