I downloaded from the web an Excel spreadsheet with a number of
different families of chemical substances. The single members of a
family could be displayed by clicking on a plus-sign at the leftmost of
the spreadsheet. To close the family again just click on the
minus-sign.

works.

I found that function pretty cool, but I cannot find out how to create
it. Anyone has a hint?

As you can see my Excel unfortunately is my national language version
(I wonder why anyone seriously can even think of translating a
spreadsheet program, and if you could see and evaluate the result you
would wonder as well), but if you just give med the name of the
instructions in english I will then be able to find it anyway.
