Default Reading a large DBF

I am reading
http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=384823
the thread that began with
"I'd like your opinion/solution to break the limit of 65k lines in a
XLS sheet."

May I ask your help?

My client gave me a 128K row DBF.
I don't have dBASE anymore, long gone.

I have ACCESS, but ACCESS can't import the data because the leftmost
column does not contain a unique index. Any suggestions to read the
DBF?

hi,
I am afraid that you are stuck with the 65k line limit.
In xl help, type the word "specification". this will give you the limits of
excel.
as to importing into access, a unique key is not required. some databases
use unigue identifiers. example might be in an inventory database. two parts
cannot have the same part number so the part number would be the unique
identifier. but even a unique identifier is not reguired. unique
keys/identifiers are only required when your are searching, sorting or
linking to other tables/databases. without them, you could create yourself a
data management nightmare. but since your are dealing with a single table, i
see no great problem. I would import into access then try to split the table
to import to excel. without seeing your data, i can't say that it would work
but it is worth a try. back up your data before you try.

Good luck
