Default Not enough memory for large workbooks

In my job, we have large workbooks containing many tabs and many
formulas. We are having a problem with these large workbooks and we
get an error message of "NOT ENOUGH MEMORY" when we try to open and/or
save these large workbooks. Is here an easy fix to this problem?
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
