The picture is too large and will be truncated
Hi All............
I developed a fairly large XL97 file with macros that has been used for two months by 5 users. One user just got a new computer with WinXP and XL2k. Every time she opens this file now, she gets the error message "The picture is too large and will be truncated". The file is on a network and still works fine for everyone else. And, this computer will open another large Excel file with macros without giving the error message. Any ideas please? Vaya con Dios, Chuck, CABgx3 |

Hi Chuck,
Something to try... have the user change the screen resolution and/or update the printer driver and see what happens. Jim Cone San Francisco, USA "CLR" wrote in message Hi All............ Thanks Jim...........
You da MAN!!!! I changed the resolution from 800 x 600 to 1024 x 768 and the problem went away. The lady is not "real" happy with the resolution, but says she can live with it. Thanks again, Chuck, CABGx3 "Jim Cone" wrote: Hi Chuck, Something to try... have the user change the screen resolution and/or update the printer driver and see what happens. The picture is too large and will be truncated
Hi there!
I'm getting this exact same error message when I try to copy a range of cells into a new, blank spreadsheet. The source file resides on a network drive and the size is 27.5 MB. The same thing happens even when the source file resides on the hard drive. I select the cells (i.e., Columns A-AV and Rows 1-100) , hit "Copy", hit "File, New". I get the error msg at this point. Once I hit "OK" on the error msg, I can then hit "Paste" and the data will show up. If I select a larger amount of cells (i.e. Columns A-AV and Rows 1-1000), hit "Copy", hit "File, New", I will get the error msg twice, then this twice: "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications." Once I hit "OK" both times, then I can hit "Paste" and get the data. I tried the resolution suggestion below, and it had no effect. By the way, I'm running XP & MS Office Pro 2003 on a Dell GX-620 with 3.2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 75 GB HD with 48 GB free, connected to a network. Excel is installed on the HD. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Scooter ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "CLR" wrote: Hi All............ The picture is too large and will be truncated
Just a suggestion........I would try performing the same operation from
another computer if possible....and preferably even a different "drop" off the LAN.....see if the problem is the same.....if this new attempt works, then the problem lies with the first computer, if not, then probably with the file.....at least this provides one step of isolation.. hth Vaya con Dios, Chuck, CABGx3 "Scooter Anderson" wrote: Hi there! The picture is too large and will be truncated
The reason for the error message, "The picture is too large and will be
truncated", is due to Microsoft's Clip Organizer. It tries to convert anything that you copy into the clipboard into a picture format whether you need it or not. I don't know how to avoid this, but if you're not a fan of the Clip Organizer, you can remove it and then you won't get the error messages anymore. To remove the Clip Organizer, go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Microsoft Office - Change - Add or Remove Features - Choose advanced customization of applications - Next - Office Shared Features - Set Clip Organizer to Not Available - Update. Hope this helps everyone out there who is also annoyed by this problem!
