Default Linking workbooks

I'm linking data from one workbook to another using copy and paste special
and paste link. Problem is that if I add new rows in the master workbook it
messes up the linked workbook.

Is there a way to protect the linked workbook from when a row is added to
the master.

Make sure both workbooks are open when you do the insertion.
