Default Are there Rich Text Text Boxes

Occasionally I have the need to enter longer than usual text segments into my
spreadsheets that include tables and text formatting that is available only
in rich text formats.

1) Is there any way to add this functionallity to excel via plugin or other
means?

2) Is this feature available on any version of excel? I am using excel 2003.

You can insert a Word object into the worksheet (InsertObject), and use
all of its formatting features.
