I want to add a message box that will open when the file is opened,
kind of like the information box that opens before a program that
displays the file name, version, authors, etc. and then closes
automatically. I've figured out message boxes, but I can't find
anything about this.

What you're after is a Userform - check them out in Excel Help. They
are very flexible.

While in the VBE environment - Select your Userform - and View (bring
up) the Toolbox (on the toolbox there is the capability to add both a
Textbox and a Image (Picture)).
