Default Saving changes to an modified color template

I have made changes to the standard color scheme in Excel, but everytime I
shut down and restart I lose all the changes. Is there anyway I can save
these changes?

Do you mean to that workbook, or within Excel? If the latter, you need to
open a new workbook, make the changes, and save it as Book.xlt (as a
template file) in the XLStart directory.
