Default Excel File Open Box - want Date Modified

Greetings

I have recently upgraded from Excel 2000 to Excel 2003 (Windows 2000).
Previously by default when selecting File\Open the Open dialog box displayed
the files in the "details" view with the "Date Modified" shown. Now,
frustratingly, "Date Modified" is never shown and I have to select it
manually. Why is that and how can I make that setting stick?

thanks in advance.

Dan

Click on the File Open icon, select views, select detail, and open the file
of your choice. Henceforth it should show detail such as size, date modified
and type.

Thanks for the reply,

but no, I do as you suggest, but the setting does not stick, every day I
have to manually select Date Modified, very frustrating. I guess this may be
a windows problem or an office service pack problem.
