Default Latest Office patch de-registered EXCEL 2002 .Word/PP fine. Ideas

I just updated latest security patches for XP and OFFICE during the week. Now
EXCEL is not registered at all though WORD and PP function fine. I only have
an OEM installation and PC insists I need the install CD....

What happened? What to do. How to revert to previous state?

Even a pre-installed edition should have disks or a local installation
folder as any update will need this.

The updated update to correct the issues of last week can be found here

I had the exact same problem as the OP: Before Excel would launch after the
updates, I had to show it my Office CD (I did have one). Word and PP and
Outlook didn't request it. I read the KB article anyway, but it doesn't
seem to pertain to the specific problem we experienced.
