Default Auto Filter Question?

I have a list of dates and I am trying to filter them by month. The
only problem is that it will only filter the dates in 2006. I have
tryed some things and played around with it but I just can't get it.

You would need a help column

assume the dates start in B2

in the help column use

=MONTH(B2)

copy down and filter on the help column, if you select 2 you would filter
for feb

Create another column, assign it to your dates(=b2) and change its
format to Date and select M as the type this would convert your dates
into the first letter of the months and now apply filter. The drawback
of this idea is the system couldnt distinguish between March and May,
April and August etc.

I am sure that would work but the way that I have to do it that wont
work. Let me give you an example.

Date Time Blah Blah Blah

1 jan/5/06 10AM
2 feb/1/06 3Pm
3 mar/3/05 5PM
4 mar/27/06 9Am
5 dec/16/06 2:15AM
6 dec/13/98 3:30Pm

I Have macros that will sort just by month and year but we need it sort
by just month.
