I have always sorted a column in Excel by clicking on one cell in the column
to highlight it and then clicking on the A-Z or Z-A icons. Now the column headings are sorted along with the other data in the column. The headings are in a different font and the panes in the row are frozen. Why are they being sorted? Do I need to change something else? |

Is the row below your heading blank? If not, it will be sorted with the rest
of your data. If there is a blank row, the method you use should work the way you want. Sometimes if the header row is formatted differently (Bold???), excel will guess
that your data has headers correctly. But for me, I'll select my range and then do data|sort and tell excel that it has headers (or not). I don't trust excel to guess correctly. Too many things can go wrong if it guesses the range incorrectly.
