How do I stop column headers from being sorted in a row?
I have always sorted a column in Excel by clicking on one cell in the column
to highlight it and then clicking on the A-Z or Z-A icons. Now the column headings are sorted along with the other data in the column. The headings are in a different font and the panes in the row are frozen. Why are they being sorted? Do I need to change something else? |

Is the row below your heading blank? If not, it will be sorted with the rest
of your data. If there is a blank row, the method you use should work the way you want. You can use Data/Sort and select My list has Headers on the check box... ---Glenn -- gjcase ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gjcase's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=26061 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=523276 |

Sometimes if the header row is formatted differently (Bold???), excel will guess
that your data has headers correctly. But for me, I'll select my range and then do data|sort and tell excel that it has headers (or not). I don't trust excel to guess correctly. Too many things can go wrong if it guesses the range incorrectly.
