Using an excel worksheet of data which includes dates - dates 'formated'
using e.g. "Wednseday, April 5 2006" are actually displayed as "Thursday,
April 5 2006". When choosing fields to include in the merge the date is
already corrupted as above. I tried various dates and the same issues occurs.

Are you sure it's Thursday, April 5 2006, or is it really Thursday,
April 4, 2002?

The former makes no sense.

The second one could come from a conversion from the 1904 date system to
the 1900 date system. If you're copying data from a workbook in the 1904
system to one in the 1900 system, that would occur as well.

It is definitely "Thursday, April 5 2006", i.e. 2006. Though as I said
before, the original formated cell is correct, "Wednesdat, April 5 2006".

Have fixed the problem in the interim by amending the 'toggle field code' as
follows: {mergefiled "event_date" \@ "dddd, MMMM d, yyyy"}
