Default Print gridline

I'm new to excel and am trying to use a template for an invoice for a
friend. I've successfully modified the template but want to get rid of
the highlighted coloring in group of cells and instead make only the
grid bolder in this area. The problem is that when the invoice is
faxed or copied, the highlighted cells are not highlighted anymore and
the grid lines are not visible. I have tried playing around in
format/cells/border/patterns but nothing seems to give me the desired
results. Any ideas. Thanks in advance
