Default MS Query uses lots of CPU

I have a Pentium 4 with hyperthreading turned on and a brand-new install of
XP SP2 and Office 2003 SP2. Just opening Microsoft Query from Excel 2003,
picking a SQL Server ODBC connection, and clicking the "SQL" button causes
MSQRY32.EXE to use 47-50% CPU constantly, even when I've not pasted in or
typed in any query at all. I thought reinstalling the whole system would
have solved this, but it didn't. It's annoying because the fan in the system
(Dell Optiplex GX280) sounds like the machine is preparing for takeoff.
