Default Unwanted £ signs when exporting data from access into excel

I constantly export data from access into excel worksheets but the figure
columns always show a '£' sign even though the format of the access field is
set to 'standard'.

Does anyone know how to resolve this.

Sound like the format on the Excel sheet is set to currency!

check this setting- In windows, Start / Settings / control panel / regional
options / currency
