Default Hiding a non-plotted chart series in legend

Hi,

I have 12 chart series in a chart (Excel 2000), any or all of which can
be hidden by the user using a Forms control (the cell values become
=NA() when the form control is FALSE). All works nicely except the
legend shows all 12 series all the time. What's the best way of having
the legend reveal only the visible series? Is there a way of doing it
without VBA?

One thought I had was to make the appropriate chart series name values
resolve to "". This would hide the series label, but not the line, I
guess.

Thanks for any thoughts,
