Default Conditional formatting highest 25% of a column

I have 60 numbers in a column.

I would like to apply a conditional format that colours the cell
background for the highest 25%, the next 25%, the next 25% and the
lowest 25%.

I know that only three conditional formats can be applied but the
fourth would comprise those that did not meet the condtion and would be
left with a white background.

Help appreciated

highlight the list and select format-conditional formating.
Select "Cell Value is" and "greater than or equal to"
Insert these formulas in this order and apply your formats
=LARGE($A$1:$A$60,15)
=LARGE($A$1:$A$60,30)
=LARGE($A$1:$A$60,45)

The largest 15 will be the first format, the next largest 15 will be the
second format, and the final 15 will be the third format. The bottom 15 will
be the default format.

If you have a tie you might end up with more than 15 highlighted in one
group (if it is around the break).
