If you have 1 Word document open, the "BIG X" closes only the current
document. (It behaves the same way as if you want to close one document with the "little "X".) In Excel, if you hit the "big X", you close all open spreadsheets. I don't care which way you go, but do it the same way in each. One could argue in either direction, but this fuzziness has lead me to lose a lot of work, particularly when I am rushing to meet a deadline.
