alt-enter if you're typing
or "& char(10) &" if you're using a formula:

="this is line 1" & char(10) & "this is not line 1"

format|Cells|alignment tab|check wrap text.

does anyone else get an error when responding to a post with no text? I
can't respond at all to these posts.

Most of the regulars around here don't use the web based interface. You may
want to switch, too (if it's ok with your company's firewall???):
