toolbar line see what you have typed
How do I put the line in the toolbar that will show what I've typed so I can
make corrections without having to retype the entire row? |

Click on View on the worksheet menu bar.

So the poster may have been missing the formula bar. <grin
Use of F2 will help with entry so that you don't have to start over.
