Stan -

Is there something about the Help description for XNPV that is not clear?
XNPV "Returns the net present value for a schedule of cash flows that is not
necessarily periodic. To calculate the net present value for a series of
cash flows that is periodic, use the NPV function."

For XNPV you must specify dates for the cash flows. For NPV the cash flows
are assumed to be equally-spaced time intervals.

NPV is for set series of cash flows say $100 every month for 36 months

XNPV allows an array of irregular cash payments
cash dates
(100,200,300,400) , ( 3/3/05, 5/17/05, 3/4/06, 4/21/07)

look it up in help for example

Mike

I have a problem with excel recignising the date in the XNPV formula. It
returns the #name? error. What do I need to do to solve this error?
