Default Excel 2000 does not filter well

Hello All:

I am finding out that Excel 2000 is not doing a good job with filters
when it comes to cells with large amounts of text.

I just wanted to see if this is others' experience as well, not me
doing something wrong.

Comments appreciated.

I'm assuming youre using AutoFilter. This will only display 1000 different
entries in the drop down list, although it will filter the whole column of
what can be seen.
Advanced Filter is an option,
Look here on Debra Dalgleish's site, she is the expert on this subject,

Thank you Alan.

My problem is not quite with the drop down list. In each cell I have
large amounts of text. Such as:

"Hyperion Performance Suite is the market's leading business
intelligence and Enterprise reporting tool. Hyperion extends and
enhances your company's investments in business intelligence software.
Hyperion Performance Suite delivers a significant advancement in the
scalability, reliability, and extensibility of Hyperion server
products."

I then look for, say, "advancement in the scalability" in a column with
"custom" search within the filter.

What I discovered is that the filter does not do the job.

I will, however, look at the advanced filter and see if it works
better.
