?? Links Not Updating ??
We have a workbook containing multiple worksheets. Inside the workbook there
are links between the worksheets that have stopped updating as well as links between worksheets that do continue to update. For example: 1) Worksheet A = 'Sheet1!A2' 2) Sheet1 Cell A2 is changed from $50 to $100 3) Worksheet A will continue to show $50 This is a scarey problem and the second time in the past month it's occured (different workbooks, different lapops). - Automatic calculation has been enabled. - This is a stand alone workbook that does not link to other workbooks. - This file was created in Excel 2003 Any ideas what's causing the problem? I've used linking extinsively in the past and have never encountered this before. This harms the integrity of all excel generated analysis if we're never sure the information is driven by the most current inputs. Thanks in adavance. |

We are experiencing a very similar issue. Except, all of our documents were
created with Excel XP (2002). No one has been able to provide me with a solution yet. I agree with you, this is very scary because we are using the analysis from Excel to make decision on how to proceed as an organization. We are experiencing the issue on multiple separate documents and multiple PC's. Is your problem consistent? Our's is not. The document may work fine 30 times, then one day it decides not to work. Then, it works OK the next 5 times we open it, and then the next 3 times it doesn't work. very sporadic. Lets see if we can find any similarities: Win 2K Pro SP4 build 2195, IBM Netvista with 1.8 GHz P4 256 MB. Office XP Pro installed. I've never seen excel do this (with calculation set to automatic). But there
have been a few posts that describe the same situation. You may want to try this... select all the worksheets select all the cells (ctrl-a, twice in xl2003) edit|replace what: = with: = replace all Maybe it'll wake up excel's calculation engine. djm023 wrote: We have a workbook containing multiple worksheets. Thanks for the fix Dave.
The main thing that worries me is the instances where the problem is occuring and it goes unnoticed (let's face it, we always assume a direct link will update!). I've seen posts on this board as well as others describing this issue but I haven't come across a reason for the problem occuring in the first place. Scott, The hardware/software we've experienced this issue on varies. The following is my computer: Dell Latitude 400 Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2002 1.59 GHz Intem Pentium M 1.50GB RAM (upgrade) Not sure if there's a connection to be found there.
