I can't select advanced filter from the data menu. How can I figure out why?

If the workbook is shared, the Advanced Filter command isn't available.

Thank-you for responding. At first I had the workbook set up so that it was
not shared. My understanding was that I should make it so it was able to be shared. So I changed it. Either way that I had it I could not select the Advanced Filter command.
