Resizing File>Open box
Hi, This is a really trivial question but hopefully someone can help me. Many
moons ago I maximised my FileOpen window so I could see all the "detailed" information. Now I do not need this window so large, but I cannot find a way to restore it back to it's original size. The diagonal lines in the bottom right hand corner are nolonger there/visable and I have tried grabbing the screen in different areas as well without success. This problem is the same for FileSave or Save As -- Loose, fast and on the edge. |

Your description of your problem leaves a little to be desired. I presume that if you select Tools, Customize, Options, and tick the 'Menus Show Recently Used Commands First' you will achieve what you desire, albeit not quite in line with what you asked for. You can resize by grabbing any edge and click and drag.
If you can't see the file|open title bar, try this: alt-space bar type m use the arrow keys to move the dialog and hit enter when you're happy with its position. The click and grab does not work with this type of window for some reason.

Did you try the alt-spacebar stuff?
That resizable File|open dialog were introduced with xl2002 (IIRC). I've never had trouble resizing by grabbing an edge. Sorry for my poor description. I'll have another go;
Fileopen brings up window with file names for selecting. At the bottom right corner of this window there are some diagonal lines and if you move the mouse over them you can resize them window. This is what I did and made it so it filled my screen. What I now need to do is make it smaller, and this is where I am having trouble. The diagonal lines are no longer visible and in the top right corner there is only a close icon and help icon. On normal windows there are minimise, maximise and restore icons. It is like the window has been maximised but without the option to restore down like a normal window. I hope this is a better explaination. -- Loose, fast and on the edge. Sorry again Dave. No I still cannot change the window from full size.

You really maximized the window--I was guessing that you made it very large.
Try file|open alt-spacebar select Restore (If you can see the title bar, you can rightclick on that and see that menu, too.) Then resize the way you want. Wackyracer wrote: Sorry again Dave. Or just double click on the title bar of the file|open dialog. (I bet that's
how you maximized that window, too.) Wackyracer wrote: Sorry again Dave. No I still cannot change the window from full size. Resizing FileOpen box
Thank you Dave, I couldn't for the life of me figure it out! My boxes also
got maximized somehow and Excel help doesn't. Dragging for resize didn't either. Katee "Dave Peterson" wrote: Or just double click on the title bar of the file|open dialog.
