Default conditional formating

is its possible to do conditional formatting from a cell from another sheet.

I could do it if I used a range name.

I gave A1 on sheet2 a name of: ASDF
I put QWER in that cell

In sheet1, I selected A1 and did:
format|conditional formatting
cell value is equal to =ASDF
and gave it a nice format.

When I typed: QWER in A1 of sheet1, I got the Conditional Formatting that I
wanted.
