Default Valid SQL string

I have received this message when opening letters created in mail merge in
conjunction with excel 2000 data source file.

'Word could not parse your query options into a valid SQL string.'

The excel file was recently used to import data to Access and also a
seperate date sheet was created i.e. origional data in sheet one and extra
data in sheet two. This problem has just occurred since these changes.
