Default locking formulas??

I am having a similar problem and have tried the unlock and hide solutions
without success...

I have a workbook I am sharing with co workers. Many of the cells have
formulas in them that change cell contents based on inputs. Not all the data
is availabel at once and the workbook is meant to be a "tracker" type that
provids alerts when days have passed etc, based on formulas and conditional
formatting values.

I need to make it idiot proof, ie. when someone type a number into the
wrong cell (say one that should have remained empty) by mistake, then tries
to delete the error the cell is now empty... sans formula and the rest of the
row no longer has the useful interactive "tracker" features....

Can anyone help with this? Thank you.

value...thanks so much!

Hi

a formula can not contain both a formula and an inputted value - one you
type over the formula its gone.

You could add code to "reenter" the formulas automatically for you when
you
need that - or if you'ld like to explain a bit more about what you're
trying
to achieve maybe we can come up with a workable solution.

Julie,

We tried that...the problem with that is the cells that have the
formulas
cannot be locked b/c that is where the data needs to be input...is
there a
way to lock the formulas??

Hi

you can apply worksheet protection to the sheet
first select the cells you want people to access and choose format /
cells /
protection & untick locked
next choose tools / protection / protect sheet
- you can add a password, if required.
now people can only change the cells that you "unlocked" above

hope this helps
Cheers

Is there a way to lock formulas? I would like other users to be
able
to
input info, but not be able to change any of the formulas.
