I have created my own toolbar and never had this sort of issue. However, I
did use the following procedure for it to be up each and every time that
Excel is open.

For starters, you do have a workbook that opens automatically when you open
Excel (provided you didn't already know about this and deleted it from the
XLStart folder)

Click on the Windows menu, then "Unhide".

Unhide the "Personal.xls" workbook

Be sure "Personal.xls" workbook is the active workbook (the workbook that
you have up on the topmost of the screen within the Excel application
window.

Create your toolbar

Attach your toolbar via the "Attach..." command button on the "Toolbars"
page of the multi-tab Toolbar Customize dialog box.

Select your newly created toolbar, and have it as attached to "Thisworkbook"
side.

Once you are done customizing and setting up your own toolbar and have it
attached, you can then close out of the "Customize" dialog box.

If you like, you can hide the workbook once again by the following steps:

While you still have the workbook, "Personal.xls" activated, save the
workbook.

Goto the windows menu

Click on "Hide"

You will difinitely want to close out of Excel to be sure this is saved
within the application. That's cause when Excel crashes, application type
settings tends not to get saved.

I am using Excel 97. When I create my own toolbar it appears for a number

of
days or weeks, then all of a sudden it disappears for good and I have to
re-create it again. Why does this happen? How can I make my toolbar a
permanent feature?

Thanks,

Duncan
