Default Conditional format a column

Hello,
I am comparing numbers in column b and column c. In column H, I've written
an if then statement stating something to the effect that the "B is greater
than C" or "B is less than C" as the case may be.

I'd like to format the cells in H with red coloring where B is less than C.
I've been able to do it with a single cell using conditional formatting, but
need help with a column of cells. Could someone give me directions?

Thanks in advance,
Ellen

Ellen,

Select your cells in column H to be formatted. Best not to select the
entire column by clicking in the column header. Note which is the active
(white) cell. Format - Conditional format - Formula is: =B2<C2. This is
for where the active cell is in row 2. Change as necessary. Click Format
and select your conditional format. Click Add, and repeat the process using
=B2C2.

If you want to do conditional formatting to cells in other columns also,
select them, same process. Formula is: =$B2<$C2. This keeps the column
part (B or C) from changing when the CF formula is copied to the other
cells.

Hello,
What I lacked was the statement "=$B1<$C1" in the conditional formatting
box. So now it works for me.

Thanks to all who answer our questions!!!
