Hi Balindy,
You are likely to receive other suggestions, but I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Jan Karel Pieterse's xl and VBE backup programmes. These are his Autosafe and AutosafeVBE add-ins which are freely downloadable from: http://www.jkp-ads.com/Download.htm The ability to retain sequential versions spanning a multi-week development cycle have made these indispensable for me. While at Jan Karel's site, look also at his splendid Name Manager And FlexFind Add-ins. A visit might well represent one of the best free shopping excursions you are likely to make! --- Regards, Norman "balindy" wrote in message ... How do I make a back up file in excel? |

If you mean make a backup whenever you save..........
FileSave AsToolsGeneral Options. "Always create a Backup" When you save the workbook a filename.xlk file is created. This backup file will always be one version behind the current saved one. If you mean incremental backups while you work, see Norman's post. Excel 2002 and 2003 have the "Autorecovery" feature which does not make incremental saves while you work. You can use the AUTOSAVE.XLA from an earlier version of Excel if you can get your hands on one.
