Are you trying to save it to a floppy disk, or to your normal hard disk?

Will it work if you tell it to save to a different directory?

Can you load and save other Excel files where this one lives, or is there only
one file that exhibits the problem?

At this point, with everything saved, I'd shut everything down and reboot the
machine. It can't hurt anything, but it might save you some grief down the road.
