Default Copy pasting problem

Hi

I have recently connected a standard 102 key PS2 keyboard for easier data
input into my laptop.

When copy-pasting using the keyboard shortcuts, excel copies the entire page
and pastes it as a bitmap image, rather than just the selection and pasting
the value or formula. I have to use the mouse to select the cell where i want
it copied.

I notice that after selecting using Ctrl+C, moving to another cell using the
arrow keys deselects the copied cells (no ants marching round the cell:-)

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

First, try ctrl-c (lower case c--not ctrl-shift-c).

It sounds like you have a macro assigned to that ctrl-c/C key combination.

If you start excel in safe mode, does it behave the same way?

close excel
windows start button|Run
excel /safe

file|open workbook

And try it out.

Thanks for that Dave - but no, no macros assigned to it.

I tried the Manage menu on the "My computer" properties, - scanned for
hardware changes , shut down and restarted Windows, and then, worked just
fine.

Seems like restarting the computer is a panacea for most evils :-)

glad you fixed it--no matter what caused it.
