Default Excel 2003 Undo greys out after few minutes - Not saving

Excel 2003 in WinXP
I read the posts about Undo feature going off after saving the Excel file.
However, I'm seeing the same thing happen after a few minutes of not working
in the file, without a save. Would the auto-recovery setting be doing a save
that would stop Undo? Other ideas?

It sure looks like autorecovery kills the undo in my simple testing.

But man, this is one feature that I like a lot! I can live with losing Undo to
keep the autorecovery feature enabled.
