Default Excel saving problem

I have a worksheet that links other worksheets. I make changes to the
first worksheet and save the file to it's original location. The
problem is when I try to re-open the file it says "extracting" at the
bottom of the screen instead of "opening" . When it finally comes up
it says the formulas are corrupted (which they are). I have tried to
save to a different location, but it does the same thing. Any
suggestions on what the problem might be?
