I can not open a .txt file with excel. Running XP Pro (SP2), office 2K
(SP3). Allows me to select excel with browse option, yet disappears after selecting and does not show up in lost of programs to open file. |

But when you open excel first, you can File|open and point at the text file and

Yeah, that works ok. However I was looking to pseudo streamline a process
for some users who like to complain about clicks, so I was hoping this was a known quick fix Overall its not much of a problem, because the way you explained it works just fine.
