show negative in bracket (Excel 2003)
Select col to be formatted Click Format Cells Number tab Select "Number" under "Category:" box You should now see the options for formatting "Negative numbers" in the box to the right. Select your choice in the box, click OK -- Rgds Max xl 97 --- GMT+8, 1° 22' N 103° 45' E xdemechanik <atyahoo<dotcom ---- "itan" wrote in message ... |

In addition to Max's reply.........
If bracketed negatives are not available in FormatCellsNumber..... This is a function of your Regional Settings in Windows OS. StartSettingsControl PanelRegional and Language SettingsRegional OptionsCustomizeCurrencyNegative Currency Format. Click on drop-down arrow and select the ($1.1) Apply and OKApply your way out. You will have to close Excel then re-open to see effects. You will then be able to choose that format.
