Excel files on USB -- taskbar shortcuts don't work

Excel files on USB -- taskbar shortcuts don't work

I carry a bunch of excel files on USB. Win 7, Excel 2010. I drag them into the quicklaunch toolbar, right click, properties, create keyboard short-cut key... and when I remove my USB and put it back in, the keyboard short-cuts don't work.

Any ideas??
