Default Password Prompt

Why does the system prompt me for a username and password when I use Internet
Explorer to open a Excel spreadsheet on a computer that has Office 2003
installed? I know this is an issue with Word in Office XP and 2003 and there
is a fix for that but I have been unable to locate any credible information
as to how to disable this function in excel. Any and all help would be
greatly appreciated. I have installed SP1 for 2003, web components, etc to no
avail.

Thanks.
